I like to Move It Move It....

Well this past weekend was filled with lots of MOVING!!! With the help of my older Sister, her husband and kids (yes the kids helped!) and my boyfriend we were able to get all my big furniture moved over to the house Friday night. We were even able to get all the furniture that Mike (my brother-in-law) was storing in his garage, I know this made him happy! I spent my first night in the new house Friday night! WOOHOO! It finally felt real!

Saturday, Ashely and I spent the day running errands and getting a lot of the little crap that was left at the old place. We brought over my everyday dishes, I still have to get my nice dishes from the old place! This week I will finish up getting all the random stuff that seems to keep growing everytime I turn around, and my clothes (I only took enough to get me through today! eek!)!

This weekend we are road tripping it up to OK! I am so excited! I get to spend the weekend with Jared and his parents and grandparents! Its gonna be so much fun!

Hopefully I will get my internet hooked up at the new house next week so I can upload all my pictures of the house! till then...

Spring Break has new meaning when your an adult...

This week is Spring Break for me! HAHAHA oh how I miss the Spring Breaks of the past! Sleeping in, having nothing to do, or spending the whole week out at the farm...

The farm memories are the best! We did that every year for LOTS of years! Dad would take all us girls out to the Farm and drop us off and come back to town to work for the week and then rejoin us later in the week for the weekend and to pick us up! We would borrow an old truck from Uncle Nelson (hopefully we wouldn't get the white one that SMB fell out of when Ashley turned a corner! haha good times!)

Me and the sisters at the farm!

Between working on the house and school and work, I have not had time to post anything about the house... I thought with being on Spring Break for school this week I would have some spare time, HA that's a laugh! I'm supposed to be reading a book for health class this week as well so i can write a report on it after Spring Break, I haven't even opened the book! UGH! Not enough time in the day!

But Mom is doing such a good job of keeping up with our progress on her blog, so I will just send you to her blog for the time being! haha I'm sure she will LOVE that (she secretly likes when people "snoop" on her blog!)!

So here are a few posts to catch you up on the house progress...

Front Porch Friday

Another week has gone by and it is time for another Front Porch Friday! :) I love FPF's! I'm sure you are wondering what the heck is Front Porch Friday!?!?! FPF started a while back when my parents volunteered at Chestnut Square in McKinney (it is a Historic Village where you can tour the old houses that have been donated or go to the Farmers Market on the weekends http://www.chestnutsquare.org/). Workers/Volunteers would show up on Friday nights ready to help fix up the historic homes that are on the property or just clean up around the property. While everyone was working a few of the ladies (my mother being one) would cook dinner. By the time dinner was ready everyone was done with their chores! We would gather on the big wrap around porch on one of the houses and have dinner and adult beverages and enjoy each others company.

Since none of us volunteer at Chestnut Square anymore, we have moved the FPF idea to whatever house we are working on around town. For the past year or so we have been having FPF at Ms. J's house since we were working on her house. We really have a lot of fun enjoying the company more than anything. One FPF the kids and Steph and I had fun with a box on her porch....

It started with just Lauren and I sitting in the box waving at cars to see who would honk or wave back...

Then it turned into more... Steph moved us (as best she could)...

To the edge of the porch... here is where it gets interesting...She positioned us just right to make our adventure look more realistic...

And then positioned the fan so that it looked like an action shot! YEP we were on a rollercoaster down the stairs! we didn't really slide down the stairs...but as cars drove by we flung our hands up and pretended we were screaming on a rollercoaster down the stairs... it was sooo funny the looks we go from people and how many people honked at us!

Once we were done playing Steph and I joined the adults to have an adult beverage and enjoy the rest of the night! hahaha...

So now that I have my own house and LOTS of projects to work on FPF has moved to my house! :) If you know where I live and don't mind a little work or getting dirty please feel free to stop by! You never know what Mom has cooking or what fun/silliness we will come up with! I hope to have some fun memories from my Front Porch Friday nights! oh wait! we do have one from last weeks Front Porch Friday!
My Aunt and Uncle stopped by for a surprise visit and brought me some champagne to celebrate... Jared, April and I spent about 10 minutes trying to get the cork out of the bottle with no luck and ended up breaking the cork... so with a little help from dad and a little redneck enginuity we got that cork out by drilling a screw into the cork and pulling it out with pliers... and were able to celebrate... I will have to post the video once I get a copy from Mom! ;)
well until next time....

Sunday Funday!

After working hard Friday night and Saturday on the house, we decided Sunday we were going to have fun! So my new guy "J" (name hidden to protect the innocent ;) haha) and I decided to go to the gun range!

I was super excited about going to the gun range. I haven't shot a gun in years to be honest. Oh how I miss the days of shooting out at the farm...

Me and the Sister's at the farm...

HAHA anyways! Once we got there J told me the rules... If I am going to shoot I am going to load my own gun! Haha so I loaded the guns and had a blast! I got to shoot a 40 Cal and a 357 mag.

He had to load his own ammo too ;).

J hung up the targets so that we each had our own targets and then we had a person outline to shoot at.

His target is the green one in the top left corner and mine is the red one in the top right corner. The shots on the body of the person are my shots before J started shooting... I did pretty good for my first time out! He was pretty impressed! ;) haha watch out now!

We had a lot of fun at the gun range and I hope to do it again soon! I really enjoyed spending the day with J doing something a little different!
haha yea i am a nerd, but was super excited about how well i shot! Daddy didn't raise no girl! HAHAHA!!!

The video is me shooting at the range, if you watch the middle black part of the target you can see it turn green when i hit it. :)

till next time...

Blog posts about the house...

Feeling Grown Up...

“Doing all the little tricky things it takes to grow up, step by step, into an anxious and unsettling world.” - Sylvia Plath

Wow I hadn't realized how long its been since I last blogged! Haha I thought being single would give me more time to blog, guess not! A LOT has changed since my last blog, for one I am not single anymore! haha I will get to that later though!

So here is the quick run down of changes in my life...

School is still school! I have 4-6 more classes left and I am sooo ready to be done! Hopefully I can be done in 2-3 semesters!

Work is GREAT! I got another promotion, I am now a System Support Manager. Which pretty much means I run the support group for IOT applications. I am also doing more programming, I have now written and released 4 desktop applications and numerous reports! woohoo!

Its moving time again!! I know I know... I play this game every year, but this year is DIFFERENT!!! I BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!! so this time my move will be permanent!! YIPPIE!!! I know my family is happy to hear this too! ;) haha. So about the house, it is a really cute 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house built in 68'. The house has all hardwood floors and is in great condition with a HUGE backyard! Rocky loves it all ready!

Since I don't have to be out of my current place until the end of April we have time to go in and fix up a few things and paint!! We started this process this past weekend (I will post progress pictures soon!) and we have already got my bedroom painted, and 1 coat on in the kitchen. I am so excited to get the house done so I can get moved in already!

So now on to the boyfriend topic... I know thats what your really interested in hearing about ;) haha!

A few months ago a guy I went to middle school in Dallas with and I reconnected on FB. We had reconnected a couple times over the past few years, but Chris and I were together so nothing more than just a friendly "hi, hows life treating you kinda thing". This time it was different, I jokingly asked him when he was going to come visit me since he lived in Denton which isn't too far. When he replied back and said maybe next weekend I thought yea whatever he is just saying that to be nice. And he ended up not saying anything about it or coming out, so I really just figured that he said it just to be nice.

A couple weeks later I decided to joke about him not coming out and asked him when he was really gonna come see me. This time he said that weekend he would come out, I wasn't holding my breath about it. But when I got a text from him in the middle of the week (when I hadn't given him my number), I thought ok maybe he is for real this time. And he was!! We went out that weekend and had a lot of fun (this was at the end of January)! And we have been dating ever since! :) Things are great!

well I have to run for now, I will try to be better about posting. I will start posting more on the house soon too!
